So… I’m still not 100% convinced that a complete mastectomy is the way to go when serious screening technology exists and Jolie can afford to have as many screenings and consultations as she wants and the psychological ramifications of amputating body parts are huge and can’t be negated by the idea that someone is suddenly safe from cancer. But this does drive home why someone would be so inclined to make that choice.
